Few of the modern coffee tables are also made of marble. This kind of construction style relies on stone material. Marble is a magnificent type of stone that have been used since the Ancient Greece. Slate is more contemporary material that is commonly found in dark or bluish gray thin layers made of a fine-grained metamorphic rock.

 

Coffee Table Style:

Coffee tables can be traditional; traditional tables characteristically use dark wood finishes and tend to be ornate, ordered and bold. Straight lines are often contrasted with curved details, brass, iron, and hand painted wood. Showing sophistication, these coffee tables have showy details and often have on old world flair. The classic details of traditional coffee tables are reflections of the periods and influences of years gone by.

Coffee tables can also be casual. These tables are usually displayed in a comfortable, warm, and homey part of the house. Overall, they are simple in design, may feature textured elements, and make use of restful horizontal lines. Rectangular and softly curved elements contribute to a casual feel. These tables tend to be large and sometime massive for better comfort and utility with less emphasis on design elements. Casual can be seen as the perfect style for a relaxing environment.

 

Modern coffee table styles: This style looks like it would fit into the 21st century. It has clean lines, smooth accents (glass, stainless steel), and new concepts. Many may compare modern tables to something from the future. Modern coffee tables often feature curved metal where it wouldn't typically be, and can also have an updated retro feel. These tables inspire and energize with sleek and novel designs.
