Explaining the Café Americano

Cafe Americano is basically American drip coffee done in an Italian style. Cafe Americano is created with equal amounts of espresso and water that is boiling. This provides the drinker with a brew that is stronger than your average coffee.

Cafe Americano is often the ideal option for people who enjoy a strong jolt of caffeine but who do not really like the taste of espresso.

For a large number of people, especially those living in America, the strong, almost bitter taste of espresso is an acquired taste. This taste is one that many people just never seem to get the hang of.

Fortunately, you do not have to visit a specialty coffee shop to get a cup of Cafe Americano, you can create this beverage easily at home.

For starters, you will need to make a shot of espresso using an espresso machine. You will want to then add approximately six to eight ounces of hot water to the espresso. This allows you to somewhat dilute the strong taste of the espresso.

It is important when making a Cafe Americano to use the right kind of espresso beans in the process as they are what contributes to the flavor of the brew. Typically, in a Cafe Americano, it is French Roast gourmet coffee beans that are used.

There is another coffee drink that is rather similar to the Cafe Americano that is known as the caffe lungo.

It is essential when making a cup of Cafe Americano that the hot water you use is always fresh. A large number of people also enjoy consuming this beverage with cream or froth on the top.

A Cafe Americano can be adjusted to suit your taste preferences. Some people prefer to mix their Cafe Americano at a ratio of thirty percent espresso to seventy percent hot water. However, you can use any ratio of espresso to water that you like.

There are so many simple ways that you can make a brew of Cafe Americano at home. Take a mug and put in a shot of espresso and then add the amount of milk that you wish to use. The milk you use in your Cafe Americano can be whole, two percent, one perfect, fat free or even soy.

The milk to be placed in your Cafe Americano can be heated up in the microwave for approximately a minute if you are looking for complete convenience. You can also opt to heat your milk on top of the stove.

Sweeten your blend of espresso and warm milk to taste. You will now want to place a whip into your mug and use the machine for about ten to fifteen seconds or so, how long you whip the brew for depends on how much froth you want to be left with.

Although the proper tools always make any job easier, you can always improvise and do a fabulous job when making homemade coffee brews. If you do not have a sauce whip, you can still create delicious froth. Simply take a wire whisk and hold it between your hands and twist quickly back and forth for approximately 15 seconds, again depending on how much froth you desire.

Your Cafe Americano can be enjoyed any time of the day and is the perfect beverage for sipping alone or enjoying with guests while you entertain.

With a little practice your Cafe Americano will be so delicious everyone will be amazed that you did not order it from a specialty cafe!

As with a number of coffee beverages, you can experiment with different flavors when making a Cafe Americano. Make use of spices if you desire or even use a variety of garnishes to please all of your taste buds.
